Deadline set for fixing roads in Midrand
MIDRAND - The Johannesburg Roads Agency spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers told media that 30 April is their deadline set to fix the roads in Region A.
“We have a list of street names and roads that have potholes that need to be patched up and road markings that have been re-painted.”
There have been changes on roads such as Lever Road in Carlswald area, which has a fresh coat of road markings that have been painted recently.
A motorist who works in Midrand but lives in Pretoria, Angela Madlala said, “It will be refreshing to drive around Midrand roads if the roads agency does not disappoint and keeps to the deadline they have set.”
Madlala said the traffic lights never work. “If that is sorted then we will have better times in traffic.”
The agency’s spokesperson Peters- Scheepers explained that traffic lights are a challenge due to wet weather. “If traffic lights are fixed today, and it rains, chances are they might not work again the next day, but we will continue to do our best and fix them as well. Traffic lights are sometimes also hit during an accident.”
