Positive vibes to motivate youth
RABIE RIDGE - Rabie Ridge Youth House, a group of individuals dedicated to helping the community's youth, hosted a fun event to mark their first anniversary.
The celebrations also coincided with Youth Day and Youth Month.
Steven Deliwe of the youth house said the group was supported by two celebrity chefs, Khumalo and Peter.
Culinary Passions School of Hospitality in Midrand, the Lions Club of Centurion and Halfway House Library also lent a hand to support the day. To the delight of the youth, former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Thabang Stemmer was also there. While Rabie Ridge Residents’ Association members joined the day too.
Deliwe said, “The day was filled with fun activities like weightlifting, an egg on spoon run, dancing, a five-a-side soccer challenge, and an amateur DJ competition. There were nice prize giveaways and food was served to all.”
Deliwe explained the aim of Rabie Ridge Youth House was to help the community’s youth by guiding youngsters and helping to develop their skills and knowledge. The aim is to deter the youth from negative activities.
The group was founded by Chemi Zungu who believed that he could help the youth who were susceptible to using drugs and committing crimes. He said he sees the group as a way to help equip the youth with skills and aspirations.
