Ward 112 speaks about Mayoral visit.
VORNA VALLEY - A Vorna Valley Residents' Association member said she was pleased with Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tau's visit to Midrand on 26 June.
Melissa Worman was present at the meeting and said, “The visit gave senior members of the council an opportunity to meet with residents and hear of some of the challenges the community is faced with.”
She explained that the meeting also gave the residents’ association insight into the Mayoral Committee plans for the City of Joburg. She said it was, however, disappointing that the immediate ward issues were not addressed as the focal point of the speech.
“Community members are desperate to see change in the ward, we would have liked to hear more about what the plans for Midrand or Ward 112 were, than to have a generic approach to the entire Johannesburg development plan,” Worman said.
She added that the association is hopeful to see more area-relevant plans communicated in the near future.
Ward 112 stand-in councillor Annette Deppe did not attend the meeting but said she heard about the turnout. “I heard many people did not attend the meeting, that could be a sign of how disgruntled residents are with service delivery in Midrand.”
