Foundation needs cleaning products
IVORY PARK - Life 4 U Foundation have run out of cleaning products and without a sponsor, the volunteers are out of work.
The foundation’s project manager, Simon Molekwa and chairperson, Mpho Mofokeng said that although a couple of sponsors came forward after a previous article on the foundation published in Midrand Reporter (Hygiene for pupils, week ending 23 May 2014), they have not lived up to their promises.
The foundation helps to educate pupils in Ivory Park schools on why hygiene is important and helps to clean the bathrooms at the schools. Mofokeng and Molekwa have been shocked by the dirty state of some of the toilets at the schools they have visited.
The foundation runs on a volunteer-basis and the volunteers said they would rather help the organisation, which provides them with the materials to clean and lunch, than to sit at home doing nothing.
Molekwa explained that the foundation’s supply of cleaning materials depleted on 17 June and since then, the volunteers had not been working and said they were “frustrated”.
“We sometimes involve them in food and clothes distribution to impoverished families so that they can do something. Our organisation is in need of partnerships with local business so that it can continue serving and developing the community of Ivory Park. Our primary needs are cleaning materials, food for our volunteers and financial support to sustain our project,” said Molekwa.
He and Mofokeng hoped the wider Midrand community would help the foundation by supplying cleaning products or funds so that it and its volunteers could help more schools and create a hygienic future for pupils.
