SPCA plans its AGM
MIDRAND - Midrand SPCA will host its annual general meeting at the Midrand Fire Station on 27 July from 9am.
Chairperson of the SPCA branch, Brenda Lucas said all community members were welcome to attend the meeting and said those members who had paid their subscriptions would be able to vote. Those members who need to renew their membership before the meeting can contact Lucas.
Lucas said, “The SPCA is yours. The SPCA exists because of public concern about the welfare of animals in our community and recognising the need for an organisation to represent these animals.”
She explained that local communities served on the management committee of the SPCA, and were responsible for the smooth and daily operations of the society, investing their free time including fundraising on behalf of the SPCA.
She said community members could help by electing a management committee for the society at the meeting who would comply with the SPCA’s protocols and be committed to the prevention of cruelty to animals.
“We are also looking for members of public whom would like to join our management committee. Members with either a legal, financial, sales or human resource background will be of great benefit to our society,” said Lucas.
She asked for community members to submit their CVs and a motivational letter at least seven days before the meeting.
“Together we can make a difference in the lives of abused, neglected and abandoned animals,” said Lucas.
