Roads agency apologises for not fixing pothole
MIDRAND - Johannesburg Roads Agency spokesperson, Bertha Peters-Scheepers said the agency apologises for unfinished road work on Brand Road and Fouche Drive.
She said, “We apologise for not attending to this sooner. It is not a pothole as residents think, it was a reinstatement by other entities, which means that a different process needs to be followed to reinstate the road.”
She added that the agency’s team had been to the site and have confirmed that it will be finally fixed by the end of the week.”
This oversight was noted and raised by a resident, Judith Aiyer who said it is a pothole. She explained that the agency had fixed other potholes on the two roads, but left that part of the road untouched and never returned to fix it. She said, “The pothole is at a corner when you turn from Brand Road into Fouche Drive. The road has overgrown grass we can’t see traffic coming up.”
She added when driving on that lane, motorists have to wait for oncoming traffic to stop before driving into a different lane to dodge the hole. “We should not have to drive towards oncoming traffic to avoid a hole in the road,” she said.
