Pampered like queens
MIDRAND - The Queen For A Day project is one of Reach For A Dream's initiatives where 15 girls who suffer from life-threatening illnesses, are pampered for a day.
Reach for a Dream Foundation marketing and fundraising co-ordinator Marnique Nel, said sometimes when young girls were faced with a life-threatening illness, they didn’t always feel as pretty and brave as ‘normal’ girls. She said this day was meant to boost their confidence by reminding them just how beautiful they really are.
On 11 July, the organisation was hosted at Imbalie Beauty near Samrand where the girls received manicures and had their faces painted. They also enjoyed fun activities and delicious treats.
Imbalie Beauty sponsored the day and surprised the girls with gifts.
Nel said after all the fun and pampering, each girl got a chance to strut her stuff on the red carpet where everyone cheered her on, and finally received her sash and crown.
“This was the ultimate girls’ party and one that they will remember forever,” said Nel.
