Midrand police host community on Mandela Day
MIDRAND - Midrand police hosted children of Jingle Bells, Future Stars and Building Blocks, and senior citizens of Clunny Farm, Creset House and Bala Nambiar.
The station provided entertainment through well-known MR ADT who taught children about the importance of safety.
Station commander Colonel Steven Moodley said, “It is important for us to honour Madiba’s memory by caring for children and the elderly. They are also affected by crime. We asked ADT to come and teach children about crime prevention and safety.”
Ward 112 councillor Candice James and her team brought cup cakes for the children and the elderly. She said, “We are here to show support for the community and the police who keep us safe.”
ANC PR councillor Majasana Maringa said 18 July was important for all South Africans. “It is a day to honour a man who taught us to care for others. We appreciate the work the Midrand police continues to do in the community.”
Maringa and his team brought Mandela T-shirts which will be handed out at the end of the event.
Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said the station planned a day of fun and games for the children.
