Crime awareness campaign at Midrand West Clinic

MIDRAND - On 29 July Midrand police, in partnership with the Community Policing Forum Midrand and the Youth Desk, conducted an awareness campaign at Midrand West Clinic.

Constable Nanty Belebesi said the campaign was held to inform the community and educate them about various crime trends in the Midrand policing precinct.

“We spoke to visitors at the clinic about resources available to them at the police station such as the Victim Empowerment Centre,” she said.

Belebesi added, “The community was delighted to see police address them about crime trends… People got an opportunity to raise their concerns to the police.”

She stated that the police realised that people still do not know where to go if they need help. Residents were given pamphlets with relevant information and sector commander’s names and contact details, along with sector vehicle numbers.

Residents were also informed about duties of police that they were not aware of; 70 people were reached during the campaign.

The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Midrand was present to address the community on drugs, and the consequences of using them.
