Joburg in immunisation drive
MIDRAND - The importance of fighting disease is being highlighted.

City of Johannesburg spokesperson Nkosinathi Nkabinde said Region A Immunisation Awareness campaign during Immunisation Week from 4 to 12 August will focus on areas with a low rate of immunisation.
He said, “We are targeting areas with low immunisation coverage which include Diepsloot extensions 1, 10, 11, 12, and 13; Ivory Park; Rabie Ridge; Kanana; Chris Hani; Kya Sands; Ga-Malatji and Macdonalds Halfway House.”
Nkabinde explained that many serious childhood diseases are preventable, with vaccines routinely recommended for children. Vaccination not only protects individuals but also curbs the spread of disease.
He said another aim of the outreach was to trace defaulters and immunise them in order to increase immunisation coverage.
“All drugs have side effects, if you see side effects in your child after being immunised go and consult the nearest clinic or your doctor,” concluded Nkabinde.
