A call to stop all abuse

IVORY PARK - Ivory Park South African Police Women's Network celebrated Women's Day at a Pick n Pay in Swazi Inn shopping centre.

The focus of the awareness campaign was women abuse and the effects of drugs on communities. Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “We told community members to break their silence when it comes to all types of abuse, especially matters of women abuse and drug abuse, this Women’s Month.”

She added that about 240 members of the community received pamphlets with information about domestic violence, women and drug abuse.

She said anyone being abused in Ivory Park can visit the police station’s Victim Empowerment Centre, a trauma centre. She added, “Most of the men who listened to us told us that police officers laugh at them when they come to report that their female partners are abusing them. Anyone experiencing this should report the matter to the station’s management.”
