Mr SA finalists impart wisdom
MIDRAND - Jaco Gerrits and Geo Botha are two Mr South Africa finalists who are doing good by just being themselves.
They gave a talk to Glen Austin High School pupils about topics such as knowing oneself, adopting a positive mindset, chasing after one’s dreams, and what it means to be a person of honour.
Botha explained the importance of knowing oneself and setting goals. He also gave the pupils background on his and Gerrits’ Mr South Africa journey, explaining what is required of them and that many times they’ve been taken out of their comfort zones, which has resulted in great personal growth.
Gerrits spoke about his challenges as a young entrepreneur and how he dealt with failures. Rather than becoming despondent he decided to use these failures as valuable learning experiences, providing himself with the necessary motivation to eventually win the Top ICT Entrepreneur in Africa award.
He spoke about the importance of adopting a positive mindset and encouraged the pupils to always chase after their dreams. He also gave some background on the Mr South Africa Men of Honour campaign, highlighting the importance of always treating others with dignity, care and respect.
