Deloitte’s upgrade library at Yenzani

MIDRAND - Yenzani Children's Home library was revamped courtesy of Deloitte South Africa, Johannesburg.

On 5 September, staff of the auditing giant stripped off their power suits and got their hands dirty.

Deloitte’s Sameera Biseswar said they chose the Noordwyk home for their annual Impact Day.

“This is only one of our projects,” she said. “We chose this home because of the location, and they needed a makeover for the library. The background of the home really touched me.” The non-profit organisation provides shelter to vulnerable children, some of whom come from abusive environments.

“The library was painted a bright green to keep the children awake when it’s reading time,” joked Vanessa Hale, the home’s office manager.

“We are happy to be here and we are hoping to come back on a monthly basis,” said Perushka Moodley, senior manager in the tax division of the company. “We can see that everything we do in this home is for a good cause.”
