Man driving over 190km/h – caught twice in one day

MIDRAND - A 54-year-old man was caught speeding twice, in Midrand and Johannesburg over the weekend.

According to Metro police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minaar the motorist was first caught on speed cameras driving at 197km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N1 by Tshwane Metro police.

“The man who had been driving a BMW 325 failed to stop when officers tried to stop him and when he entered the Johannesburg area he was caught again doing 200km/h,” he said. “When he got to Johannesburg, Metro police officers managed to stop and arrest him before midnight on 13 September.”

Tshwane Metro police, who gave chase all the way to Johannesburg managed to get both speeds on camera.

The motorist is being detained in Pretoria and will soon appear at Midrand Magitrates’ Court for speeding.
