Time switch could save electricity

MIDRAND - Sagifon technologies, a company based in Midrand, said residents now have the option of using remote-controlled time switches for electricity automation and load management.

A representative of the company, Billy Ruyobeza said, “The time switches could reduce monthly electricity bills up to 30 percent, if properly used and fitted.”

“We believe that the time switches will enable industrial, commercial and domestic consumers to take full control of their electricity consumption patterns and resultant costs.”

He said so far five people have bought the time switches. “Only one person had a problem with it but it was because it had not been properly installed. The person is now using the time switch again.”

He explained that the switch is innovative in that it enables consumers to alternate between various electricity loads at a press of the button or by programming the switch on a remote-controlled transmitter to switch the load on or off.

He added residents can program the switch themselves using the remote-controlled transmitters but a qualified technician must install the switch.
