Zumba for the animals
MIDRAND - Dance4Fun hosted a Zumba class on 25 October in aid of the SPCA in Midrand.
Brenda Lucas, chairperson of the association for animals, expressed gratitude to Nel-Monteiro for dedicating the class to them.
“The event was a great success and even DA Councillor, Candice James, popped in to join in on the fun,” said Lucas.
Ladies and gentlemen joined in to build up a sweat, laughing and enjoying the “zumba party”. Each received a goodie bag filled with gifts and a pink shimmy belt in memory of all animals that have passed away of cancer.
Nandi Robinson said, “Nel-Monteiro has a heart of gold. She’s filled with energy and it bounces off to anyone attending her sessions. Well done to her.”
Bokkie Nel, who will be cycling in a cycle challenge for the Midrand SPCA team was spinning away, enjoying the zumba beats. His children, Marne (5) and Anja (3) Nel got in on the action by approaching the general public for donations and raised an amount of R600.
Friends situated in Cape Town decided that as they could not make the event, they would do a park run in aid of Midrand SPCA with their dogs.
Nel-Monteiro urged everyone to have an open heart and support the ones that can’t speak for themselves.
