Man beaten over perfume

HALFWAY HOUSE - A man was robbed and beaten over a bottle of perfume in Halfway House.

This is according to the victim’s statement given to Midrand police on 3 November.

He said he had been working as a security guard at the local Shisanyama when he was approached by five men.

The man alleges one of the men then accused him of stealing his perfume. Before he could respond to the accusation, all five men attacked him.

They also took his cellphone and R200 cash. He said he managed to use pepper spray on them and that is when they left. He also claims that although he does not know the perpetrators personally, he would be able to identify them.

Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communications at the station, confirmed that a case of assault with grievous bodily harm had been opened at the station. “We are currently investigating the case,” she said.
