Candlelit carols for animals in distress
MIDRAND - The annual Carols by Candlelight event hosted by the Society of Animals in Distress was a fun-filled affair.
The event took place at The Paddocks on Plot 20 on Moerdyk Street in Vorna Valley on 29 November.
The evening which started at 4pm promised a range of fun activities for both adults and children, and did it deliver!
Songs were sung, those present reminisced on the past year with family, ate pancakes, found out Father Christmas does exist and the children were allowed to explore lots of fun activities. Raffle tickets and early Christmas shopping were also on offer.
Enjoying the summer’s evening on a farm with a few donkey “heehaws” in the background was the perfect end to a tiresome year.
“All these certainly add to the uniqueness of the annual event,” said Carmen Douglas-Kilfoil of the association.
The society’s fundraising team welcomes all donors, neighbours and their surrounding community to join them for their event in the coming years. On the evening they raised funds by charging an entrance fee of R60 per adult and R30 per child. The fee included a candle, song sheet and a welcoming drink.
Sadly, no animals were allowed for safety reasons.
