Councillor speaks about this year’s plans
MIDRAND - Councillor Stephen Lamola said Ward 110 will see some developments next year.
He writes:
“The City of Johannesburg will look at the 1996 and 1997 housing list and visit families who are listed on this database. The residents who are on the list are being prioritised as they have been waiting for houses for many years now. There have been allegations that people who recently registered are also on that list, this has prompted many protests that clouded Rabie Ridge this year. Residents can rest assured that the city will not issue houses to anyone who was not listed in the 1996 to 1997 priority years.
Next year, most roads in Region A including King Fisher Road, Freedom Drive, Tertel Avenue, Masakhane Street and Mongameli Street will be re-surfaced.
President Park will see storm water channelling on Swart Drive, Brand and Kruger roads. In Mayibuye, Mangakgane, Leboa, Ilanda and Theresa streets will be reconstructed or resuscitated.
I appeal to the community to escalate service delivery issues they may have in a more peaceful manner next year. In the past year there were too many illegal protests in Rabie Ridge which disrupted many people’s lives. As the council, we look forward to working together with the community and serving the people of Ward 110. Have a fruitful 2015.”
