VVRA: The Vlei makes progress
MIDRAND - The missing Vlei gate, which was making the wetland in Vorna Valley unsafe, has been replaced.
Sue Klingenberg of the Vorna Valley Residents’ Association had previously said that an anonymous potential donor had made an offer to the association to purchase a new gate to secure the wetland.
Although not confirmed that Veggie Divine Foods is the anonymous potential donor, it was revealed on the associations’ website that they eventually donated the gate that is currently guarding the entrance of the vlei.
“It has made a big difference to the amount of foot traffic that was going through the vlei during the night, thereby hopefully reducing the security risk for those people who border the vlei area.”
Although the association claimed that the wetland was on the right track, they lamented the habits of some residents. “Our vlei is being trashed by residents living on the vlei.”
They warned that they will be visiting these residents over the next months with warning letters and they will be forced to clean up their rubble or face a fine and the expense of the council having to come clean up.
“So if you live on the vlei and have been dumping into the vlei, please clean up your rubble as soon as possible or we will be visiting you,” read the stern warning.
