Children from a charity get a treat
MIDRAND - A beauty salon took a day to treat and spoil vulnerable children at the salon's new premises in Midway Mews.
Ladilsa Beauty Salon owner Salbiah Domingos said the children of Rea Kgola Children’s Home in Midrand deserved a treat. They received a takeaway meal and gifts.
“Children are very dear to me. We wanted to do this for children who normally would not get a treat, those in need,” said Domingos.
Speaking on behalf of the home, Maleeto Phejane said they appreciated any help from the community. “What Ladilsa has done for the children is quite a treat, the children come from poor backgrounds, they rarely have a chance to be taken out.”
She said the children came to the centre for food parcels on a daily or monthly basis, for homework help and to engage in different activities.
Phejane said the home needed a mobile library for books that have been donated to them. “Our books are currently on the floor in one of the rooms. We desperately need a library or shelves as children enjoy reading the books,” she said.
