Shisa nyama booze thief busted

HALFWAY HOUSE - Midrand police arrested a 26-year-old man for stealing seven bottles of alcohol from a shisa nyama in Halfway House, Midrand.

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said the suspect was arrested on 14 June.

“According to the complainant, while he was patrolling he noticed someone closing a window at a shisa nyama. The complainant went to inspect and found someone he knew carrying a bucket with stolen alcohol,” she said.

The suspect realised that he had been caught, dropped the bucket and ran away. The complainant called the police and gave them a description of the suspect and the direction in which he ran. He was found and arrested.

The suspect will appear in court soon.
