Cresset House residents take a break

MIDRAND - Cresset House residents recently took a well-deserved holiday.

The 52 villagers and 12 residential staff of the home hit the road and headed to Weesgerus Holiday Resort in Nylstroom.

Merilyn Pick, the home’s CEO, said the holiday was a sponsored affair. “Assupol negotiated for a discount with Weesgerus management and they sponsored full tracksuits for all villagers and staff.” She also said the resort gave the residents another discount on top of the negotiated price.

They also travelled in style at a discounted rate. “Protours bus company also gave us special fares,” said Pick.

Pricing was not the only factor that resulted in the holiday. “This was the first in the history of Cresset where all the villagers and staff went on a holiday as a group,” said Pick.

She said the momentous occasion was made even more special by the excitement it generated. “During their two-day stay, the resort also sponsored them with free putt-putt, swimming and trails walks.”

Pick thanked everyone who had made the holiday possible. “We are hoping to do this as an annual event,” she said as she thanked the home’s residents’ parents and guardians who also contributed to the costs.
