Metro police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said Metro police impounded a Nissan Truck at about 5pm on 29 June. The driver was caught red handed dumping a load of rubble in an open field on the corner of K101 and Allandale Road in Midrand. Minnaar added, “Illegal dumping has become a big problem for law enforcement officers in the city, an more than 2 340 fines were given to offenders for illegal dumping this past financial year.”
The man will have to pay a R1 500 fine to get his truck back.
The public is urged to report incidents of illegal dumping and to take a photo of the offender and report it to the Joburg Connect call centre on 011 375 5911.
