Woman gets into truck and abandons child, 4

IVORY PARK - A little four-year-old boy was abandoned next to a guest house in Midrand by a woman believed to be his mother on 2 July.

The little boy, who does not know his surname, was found by a community member who took the child to the police station. Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said it is alleged that the woman had returned from work at 7pm when she abandoned the child.

Sekgobela explained, “The boy was carrying a bag containing his clothes when he was found. When police asked the child where his parents were, he said his mother got into an identified truck and left him behind.”

The boy is in a place of safety in Ivory Park Ext 2.
