Eskom allegedly leaves electricity cables exposed for months

PRESIDENT PARK - President Park resident Sharon Garson said a trench had been dug about a year ago to either fix or replace electricity cables on Brand Road, but Eskom has allegedly left the cables exposed for months.

She said, “Since then, the cables have been lying in the open trench totally exposed. The cables [could] get stolen or someone could be electrocuted.”

The matter was reported to Eskom, but no action has been taken to cover the exposed cables.

Garson claims she sent a query to Eskom as to why they have not filled the trench and covered the cables. Eskom allegedly responded and stated that they had a problem, but failed to say what the problem was.

Midrand Reporter contacted Eskom with regard to the issue three weeks ago, but no response has been received on the matter yet.
