Poplar girls leave for London

CROWTHORNE - Pupils from Poplar Academy, including Ifhani Mphephu, Wambui Mwaura, Malebo Maluleke, Sthembile Hadebe and Konke Makhaya, will head to London on 5 August.

The school’s English teacher Lyn Meyer said, “The girls and I are leaving for a cultural tour of London and will visit a threatre there. The trip is for 10 days.”

Meyer said the girls will visit London Art Galleries to do research for their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Art Project. They will also attend The Merchant of Venice at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon as this is their English drama project for their IGCSE exam.

They will then travel to Cambridge University to get a taste of university life in the United Kingdom as their international Cambridge qualification gives them the opportunity to pursue studies in the UK.
