Midrand spa empowers the youth
NOORDWYK - Mathibedi Eco Spa in Midrand, founded by Dr Senathi Fisha, is one of the few environmentally-friendly spas available in Johannesburg.
Fisha explained her inspiration for the spa, “The fact that I am very sensitive to the environment [with a] desire to do business in a responsible way while still reaching financial targets.”
The spa has created employment for the youth in the community. Speaking about young people, Fisha said, “It is important to empower young people and give them skills they can use to better their lives. We have employed young people and train them for the spa and hair salon.”
Fisha said the spa also aims to reduce electricity consumption by reducing the number of heating systems, especially at a time when South Africa is experiencing a power crisis.
