Journalist allegedly head-butts news editor over a story; assault case opened

MIDRAND - It is reported that an ANN7 journalist allegedly head-butted a news editor in the media house's Midrand newsroom and has since been suspended. 

News24 is reporting that Midrand police confirmed that a case of common assault had been opened and that communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said an ANN7 news editor had alleged that the journalist had got angry, assaulted him and hit him with his head.

It was further reported that the news editor’s upper lip was cut.

The company’s spokesperson reportedly sent an email to employees saying that the company had a zero tolerance to violence and that it did not condone physical attacks on colleagues.
