UPDATE: Missing man is now home

VORNA VALLEY - A Vorna Valley resident who was reported missing earlier this week was spotted at Montecasino in Fourways on the night of 9 September.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said the missing person has been found and is back home safely.

“The family is appealing to the public to stop calling them as they are now trying to recover from the ordeal. The family thanks everyone who assisted them in circulating the information,” said Tlamela.

11 September; 9.30 am

According to Constable Matome Tlamela, communications officer for Midrand Police, the missing man, Mohammed Shiraz Ismail, was spotted at Montecasino on the night of 9 September.

Tlamela added that the video footage showed that Ismail was alone and that he left the casino on the morning of 10 September.

Police and family members are still looking for Ismail.

9 September; 3 pm

The family of Mohammed Shiraz Ismail is looking for him and they are asking the public to assist with any information that can lead to him being found.

He was last seen at a gym in Midway Mews on 8 September. Ismail’s wife, Kerusha Govender, said he was last seen wearing blue knee-length gym shorts, a black T-shirt and blue, black and white takkies.

“He is 1.71m tall, has brown eyes and short hair. He also has a pencil-thin beard. We are offering a reward to anyone who may know of his whereabouts,” she said.

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela confirmed, “Police are busy with the investigations. We are doing cellphone tracing and the police will obtain video footage at the gym at Midway Mews.”
