Update: Body of toddler found after she was kidnapped in Ivory Park

RABIE RIDGE - The body of a girl with a visible head injury was found on Modderfontein Road on 19 September.

Update 19 September, 10am:

Rabie Ridge police confirmed the family of the toddler, who was found dead on the side of Modderfontain Road, has been found. According to police, the family said the child was kidnapped from her mother in Ivory Park.

Police now know identity of suspect

19 September, 9.30am:

Rabie Ridge police spokesperson Constable Jacob Nhlongo said the body of a girl, believed to be aged two or three, was found dead on Modderfontein Road on the morning of 19 September.

Nhlongo said the girl’s body was found with a visible injury on her head and only the top half of her body was covered. He said she was not wearing trousers or a skirt.

“Police will wait for postmortem results to find the cause of her death and if she was raped,” said Nhlongo.

Her family is not known at this stage. Police are investigating the case.
