She said, “Many thanks to Jan van Niekerk from the City of Johannesburg Region A’s Environmental Health Department who took his time in trying to get the noise issue resolved. He called a couple of times and followed up on this as often as possible. He even called when he was at the club last Friday to try and find out if we could still hear the noise.”

She added that she and other residents in her complex were sleeping much better now, and looked forward to weekends again. “The issue was never really about trying to get the club closed but rather to reduce the noise they make for the rest of the nearby residents,” she said.

City of Johannesburg’s Environmental Health Department confirmed that the club was issued with a statutory notice in terms of Gauteng Noise Control Regulations, prohibiting any form of loud music or noise that may cause a nuisance. If the club does not comply in the future, further action will be taken.
