12 injured in taxi and car collision in Midrand

MIDRAND - 12 people were injured on the morning of 14 April after a taxi and light motor vehicle collided on the R562 in Midrand.

According to ER24, paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene shortly after 8am to find a taxi and light motor vehicle in the middle of the road.

On inspection, paramedics found the driver of the taxi lying trapped inside his vehicle. Rescue services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the man.

All 12 patients were assessed and found to have sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. The patients were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is under the investigations of local authorities.
