Man fired for Facebook post: ‘I would rape Indian women…’
MIDRAND – A reckless moment on social media costs a man his job.
According to a Facebook post on Just Property Midrand’s page, the man whose Facebook post shocked the public has been fired.
A few months ago, Darryn Wilken, in a Facebook group known as Dark Humor, answered the question, ‘If any crime was legal for 12 hours, what would you do?’
Wilken replied “… I will go rape every Indian women [sic] I see. Then after the 12 hours I’ll hit them up with a message like, last night was fun, we should do it again some time.”
Wilken told Midrand Reporter that he had posted on the group as, “In this group people are able to post whatever they think is funny knowing that other people in the group are like-minded and no one is offended.”
Wilken’s former employers posted a statement on Facebook saying, “We at Just Property Midrand understand the hurt that the public is feeling, and after following the required labour relations process, we can confirm that Darryn Wilken no longer works for Just Property.”
Just Property Midrand and Darryn Wilken were contacted on 14 April for further comment, no response has been issued yet.
