Striking Sanral workers block New Road
MIIDRAND – Sanral contract workers block New Road on the morning of 3 May, during a strike.
According to EWN, Sanral’s service provider, Teti Traffic, workers have gone on strike, demanding a 130 percent salary increase.
Teti Traffic is said to be scheduled to meet with the workers at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration on 4 May to discuss their differences. However, on 3 May, about 150 workers blocked lanes on New Road in Midrand, which leads on to the N1.
Protesters are reportedly still blockading the N1 highway and motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.
