State capture report stirs up Midrand residents
MIDRAND – Midrand residents demonstrate on New Road over concerns of where South Africa is headed.
Many demonstrators recently took to New Road in Midrand to express their views on the State Capture Report and received support from motorists who hooted as they drove past.
Before the demonstrations commenced, event organiser, Esme Bense said, “We stand with all South Africans to show our deep concern for the path our country is on. This path is failing and we will have nothing to leave our children.
“Government is voted in by the people, and for the people. Not for individuals and personal gain. We must turn back to the vision and values we all voted for.”

Ward 112 councillor Madeleine Hicklin, also joined the demonstrators in her personal capacity. “We came together as a group of concerned South Africans wanting to save our country. We are representatives of the real Rainbow Nation who stands together to look adversity in the face, united with a common goal.
“We are not black, white, coloured or Indian South Africans nor are we here as ANC, DA or EFF-affiliated South Africans. We are just concerned citizens who are tired of our coffers being abused to enrich the lives of a few ‘connected’ individuals who believe they are above the law.
“South Africa belongs to all the citizens who live in this beautiful country. The time has come to ensure her survival.”
