Car stripped in secure complex
NOORDWYK - Visitor wakes up to find his car stripped in a residential complex.
A man who spent the night at his friend in a newly built residential complex in Noordwyk is crying foul after his car was stripped in the wee hours of the morning.
Meshan Naidoo, originally from Roodepoort, spent the night at his friend on Tuesday when he woke up the following morning to find his white Polo had been moved 20 metres from where it had been parked and stripped on the driveway of the complex.
He said the security guard told him that two men drove into the complex at around 2am but didn’t register their details at the gate. The alleged thieves walked away with the dashboard, ignition, DVD screen, subwoofers, the taillights, computer box and tyres.
“I was parked in the last parking spot and my friend’s car was parked just next to mine but nothing happened to it. The explanation I received from the security guard doesn’t hold water. I feel like this was a planned thing. The fenders are bent like the car was lifted… [up],” protested Naidoo.
“It doesn’t make sense to me that the security guards, who supposedly patrol around the complex on an hourly basis, did not see or hear a thing.”
A case of theft has been opened with the Midrand police. “I am yet to lodge a complaint with the body corporate of the complex because I feel that the security has been compromised,” concluded Naidoo.
