PR councillor thanks Good Samaritans

MIDRAND – Good Samaritans appreciated for their contribution to young girl's funeral.

DA PR councillor for wards 92 and 111, Julie Suddaby has thanked all those who contributed to the funeral of the 16-year-old girl who allegedly committed suicide by consuming rat poison on 13 January.

Malesope Ntlangwe allegedly drank the poisonous substance while meeting with her friends on her street in Meriting, Kaalfontein Section 22. She was buried at the local cemetery on 21 January.

The family did not qualify for a social burial as Ntlangwe was not documented and her mother was a Lesotho national.

Suddaby said she would like to thank the Meriting community, Glen Austin branch of Avbob, Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce, Bambanani Business in Ivory Park, Region A officials, City Parks, Joburg Market and the DA Midrand constituency, for contributing towards giving Ntlangwe a dignified and proper funeral.

“I was privileged to be given time to address those who attended the funeral. I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the family and would like to remind people how important it is to keep poisonous substances away from children,” she said

Suddaby further encouraged the community to ensure that all their South African family members were properly documented so they could receive government assistance when needed.
