Desperate Rabie Ridge land invaders resist Red Ants

MIDRAND – Police come to the Red Ants' rescue after stone-throwing land invaders resist attempts to demolish their shacks.

Metro police were called in on 13 February when a group of desperate land invaders tried to resist Red Ants’ attempts to evict them from a vacant property they had been occupying illegally in Rabie Ridge near Olifantsfontein Road.

Metro police spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar, said police were called in to control a crowd that was resisting being forcibly removed.

“The people were protesting and threw stones and debris on the road. There was a court order issued to evict them from the land they had occupied illegally. We managed to calm the situation and the eviction took place,” he said.
