New beds for Tshimollo home

MIDRAND – Home for disabled children turns a year old on a good note.

Tshimollo, a home for children with disabilities in Kaalfontein, started the year on a good note after they received 22 beds and cleaning products from two different donors.

The home, which houses 45 children living with disabilities from around the province, received the beds from Shoprite on 13 February. The following day, the Midrand-based Wela Group construction company gave them cleaning products. Established in February last year, the home that is situated at founder Lebogang Ramushu’s home, has grown tremendously. “The only funds we maintain this home with is the children’s grant money.

“We have been struggling because more children are brought to us – but with the help of donors, we are really growing. I’m so thrilled with these donations because children were sleeping on small mattresses but now they have proper beds. We are truly grateful.”

The home also receives about 80 student nurses who assist for their practical training.

Ramushu describes her work as not just charity but a calling.

Chief executive officer at Wela Group, Mzwandile Simelane, said they chose the organisation because they would like to see it grow. “We chose this home because the work they do is admirable. We would like to come back and do more to assist them,” he said.
