Police stations join forces to curb robberies in Midrand
MIDRAND – Local police stations hold joint operation to ensure safety during the festive season.
The Ekurhuleni North and Johannesburg North police clusters recently held a joint operation with other police stations on 22 December.
Midrand, Rabie Ridge, Ivory Park and Alexandra police stations as well as Metro police, the National Traffic Police and the intelligence detective tracing units participated in the operation.
“One of the hotspots targeted was Republic Road and Boshof Road [where the police] aimed to prevent hijackings, murders and rapes which tend to occur around these roads,” said the spokesperson for Rabie Ridge Police Station, spokesperson Captain Mofana Matsobane Masela.
“Police issued a number of road traffic offences tickets for unroadworthy vehicles, drinking and driving as well as possession of unlicensed firearms.
“Motorists are advised to be vigilant on the roads so they can enjoy their festive season and arrive alive in the new year.”
