#ICYMI: Fatal incident at train workshop depot

At about 12.20am,  Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious crash at a railway train workshop in the Midrand area.

Reports from the scene allege that a shunter towing a train from the tracks to the workshop derailed and crashed into a building.

Netcare 911 staff including an advanced life support paramedic attended to three male patients. Tragically, the driver of the locomotive sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. Two occupants of the train that was being towed, the driver and a technician, sustained mild to moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to a hospital for further assessment and care.

The incident is still under investigation.
