Mix Telematics gives back to Little Eden’s Wheelchair Challenge

MIDRAND – They are also encouraged to make a donation of R50 000 towards the cause.

Midrand-based MiX Telematics Africa company divisional director, Jeandre Koen spent a day in a wheelchair in support of the Little Eden Wheelchair Challenge on 16 March.

The challenge was initiated by a non-profit organisation called Little Eden, which challenged chief executive officers of companies to spend a day in a wheelchair to highlight challenges faced by disabled people in a workplace. They are also encouraged to make a donation of R50 000 towards the cause.

“So often we overlook the challenges that people with disabilities are faced with and so, I feel very honoured to have been a part of this challenge in raising more awareness about disability,” said Koen.

Koen said it was a great pleasure to work alongside Little Eden in helping them continue the work they do in the community. Little Eden has two care centres in Edenvale and Bapsfontein where they care for 300 profoundly intellectually and physically disabled children and adults.

“We embarked on this wheelchair campaign to raise awareness around disability and to also help raise funds for the disabled people in our care, given that most corporate social investment funding goes towards other areas such as education.

“As such, we welcome the support received from corporates such as MiX Telematics, who have done their bit to help us keep our doors open and continue to help persons in need of our care,” said Zai Miller, a development officer at Little Eden.
