12-month mentorship programme is set to boost youngsters of Midrand
MIDRAND – PWC held a boot camp soon to be followed by a 12-month mentorship programme.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) recently hosted a skills development boot camp in Midrand in a bid to prepare young people for a future in the workplace as part of their corporate social responsibility.
The boot camp will be followed by a 12-month mentorship programme.
Skilled for the Future is a holistic education developmental initiative in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Education.
“The programme is focused on preparing young people for tomorrow’s workforce while unleashing the next generation of business leaders,” said Dayalan Govender a partner and engagement leader of the programme at PWC.
Youth Month is an important time for businesses, educators, government and other stakeholders to reflect on and consider our efforts to upskill young people for the workplace. Youth Month this year is being commemorated under the theme, Live the Legacy: Towards a Socio-economically Empowered Youth.
At the five-day boot camp, the youngsters attended various workshops based on leadership, entrepreneurial and team building, as well as self-development skills. They were also presented with a case study to apply their skills and were required to present their solutions to a pre-selected panel. On completion of the camp, the youths were given a certificate acknowledging them for their efforts.
Sixty students from grades 10 and 11 who show the highest academic and leadership ability and potential, are selected for the Skilled for the Future programme.
