Imbizo Shisa Nyama a few steps closer to reclaiming best shisa nyama honours in Mzansi

JOBURG – local chill-out spot makes it into Windhoek Shisanyama Search top eight.

With over R1,2 million in prizes to be won, the Windhoek Shisanyama Search with Chef Benny Masekwameng aims to find the best shisa nyama in the country.

Local chill-out spot, Imbizo Shisa Nyama, popularly known as Busy Corner in Ebony Park was crowned the best shisa nyama in South Africa last year and it has once again been voted in the top eight spots to go to for great meat and a nice vibe.

“My task is to judge the food while DJ Mo Flava is in charge of looking at the overall vibe of the top eight shisa nyamas,” said Masekwameng.

Founded by Rita Zwane in 1997, Busy Corner started operating from a shipping container and has since won multiple awards. The establishment is set to go head-to-head with other top eight finalists at the final shisa nyama showdown

“This is a serious competition with over R1,2 million in prizes to be won so our voting process needs to be well structured and is evaluated on a point system – and the list is long,” said Masekwameng.

Masekwameng said judging begins from entry into the venue, customer relations, which includes the number of staff members on hand to service the number of guests.

“Nothing is left to chance including the cleanliness of the venue and the area where the food is prepared.  Menu presentation is also considered as well as the quality of the service and how soon after order the food is served.  Presentation, what is served with the meat and if the food is cooked according to the customer’s request is also included,” Masekwameng said.
