Midrand teen sets sights on USA

MIDRAND – Litha is raising the South African flag high as she gets ready to show off her talents in Orlando, Florida in the United States.

Litha Pesiza who is a 17-year-old singer and actress from Midrand has been invited to showcase her talents at the International Arts Talent Showcase in Orlando, Florida in the USA in July.

“Since early childhood, there’s been something about this child of mine which I could not comprehend,” said Boniswa Pezisa, Litha’s mother.

“She would sing and perform on the staircase at home and I would ask myself: What is going on?”

Boniswa only realised later that her daughter had talent. Litha was able to explore her talents in school plays and her school choir which contributed to her honing her skills.

In April last year, Litha auditioned for the International Arts Talent Showcase and received the Best Performer Award and an invitation to perform at the International Arts Talent Showcase.

Litha said, “On 30 June, I will travel to perform in front of international judges such as Nate Butler, an American music director among others, and directors from studios such as Universal Studios.”

Litha said her US invitation has given her more confidence. “I have just completed our school’s One Act Plays were I received the Best Supporting Act Award and our play will be competing at the Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts in 2020.

“I have also successfully competed in the Kids With Talent Music Competition and I’ll be going to the Regional Competition in May 2019.

“Two weeks ago, I received a gold certificate from the Regional Eisteddfod of South Africa. I also model and received the Best Dressed Award which landed me in the Top 10 of the Phame Factory Modelling Competition.”

Litha added that she wanted to share her story to inspire other young people to make their dreams a reality. “Never take no for an answer from anyone.”
