Two suspects arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm

PHOMOLONG – Police have arrested two suspects for the possession of an unlicensed firearm, drugs and explosive devices.


Ivory Park Police have arrested two suspects for possession of an unlicensed firearm, drugs and explosive devices.

The police were patrolling the area when they acted on a tip-off regarding the suspect who was allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm in the Phomolong area, Rabie Ridge.

According to the police, one of the suspects was found to be in possession of a 9mm pistol with one magazine and four live rounds of ammunition.

“In the room of another suspect, members recovered 2kg of Cat powder, 106 Cat tablets, one small bag of dagga and 27 Mandrax tablets. Both suspects, aged 21 and 39, were arrested and detained at Rabie Ridge SAPS,”  Captain Sekgobela said in a statement.

The suspects will appear in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon to face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, drugs, and explosive devices.
