Glenfresh brings the local community together

GLEN AUSTIN – The local community got together to have some fun at the weekly Glenfresh Market.

The local community was brought together for the weekly Glenfresh Market that congregated at their new venue on 13 July.

The market was created in 2016 as a platform for farmers and creators in Glen Austin to share their goods with the greater community. Committee member Helen Vermij said that the weekly market creates a space where the community can get together and to create a closer-knit Glen Austin. On the day, local producers came together, selling various goods from bespoke beers to freshly grown produce.

Chairperson for the market Stefan Niemiec said, “The market helps us to build a great community spirit. There is so much pressure on these agricultural holdings but many people don’t know their neighbours. So the market truly creates a beautiful community spirit and new friends.”

He added that people who come to the market from other suburbs, come through to experience the friendly and welcoming environment that Glen Austin residents have created.

The market is hosted every Saturday at 28 Olifantsfontein Road in Glen Austin and they are looking for more vendors. Anyone interested in being a vendor can contact the market at market@glenfresh.co.za
