Man found hanging from tree next to Modderfontein Road in Mayibuye

MODDERFONTEIN – Police have arrived on the scene and circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known.


A man was found hanging on a tree next to Modderfontein Road in Mayibuye this morning, 23 July. Police have arrived at the scene to assess the matter further. 

Constable Jacob Nhlongo, spokesperson of the Rabie Ridge Police Station, said he was notified by community members that they had seen a man hanging on a tree.

Nhlongo said they were still waiting on a medical response team to arrive on the scene. “We do not know the deceased or the motive, so we have to wait for him to be certified dead so we can ask members of the community to help identify him.”

He urged community members who may have any information regarding the incident to assist the police.

“Community members can come straight to Rabie Ridge Saps or call 011 310 0413, which is the station number, or 071 675 7400, which is my personal number,” said Nhlongo.

The circumstances around the incident are still under investigation.
