Police arrested six suspects for the theft of scrap metal from a local business.
Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Sergeant Matome Tlamela said that a local business owner in Midrand noticed items were missing. The complainant checked the company cameras and found that a group of employees, including the company security guard and driver, allegedly used the company vehicle to load R25 000 worth of scrap metal.

It was discovered that the stolen metal was transported and sold to another scrap yard in Midrand. The theft had been a regular occurrence from 6 January to 30 January.
Tlamela added that a case of theft was opened against the employees and the evidence was handed over to the police. The six suspects were arrested and charged with theft.
